After much research and planning and discussion, you've settled upon a booth display that you can mount a monitor or tv to. But then you realize you need to know a little more about how to mount the monitor properly. Don't fret, let us walk you through the main points you need to get it right.
Determining the mount pattern, screw size, and weight of your monitor (LCD, LED LCD, TV, Flat Panel, etc.) then verifying if and how it mounts to your new exhibit, will make set-up at the show much easier.
Manuals, manufacturer websites, or online electronic stores often have your monitor specs readily available if you have your model number or name.
Mount Pattern
Referred to as the VESA mount pattern, these are the distances between the screw holes on the back of the monitor.
They are measured in millimeters and listed as width x height.
Approximate Millimeter to Inch Conversion
- 2” = 50mm
- 3” = 75mm
- 4” = 100mm
- 8” = 200mm
- 16” = 400mm
- 32” = 800mm
Screw Size
Most monitors accept standard machine screws M4, M6, or M8. M indicates metric sizing, and the number corresponds to the outer diameter of the screw.
Rough approximation in inches is 1/8”, 1/4”, and 1/3”.
Weights
Weights of monitors, particularly newer models, are typically well within the monitor mount weight limits.
Please note: weight limits on exhibit monitor mounts refers to limits with the exhibit completely set-up in a configuration designed to support monitors.
Understanding VESA Mount Patterns
VESA mount, is a family of standards defined by the Video Electronics Standards Association for mounting flat panel displays, computer monitors, TVs, and other displays to stands or wall mounts.[1]. Most sizes of VESA mount have four screw-holes arranged in a square of the mount, with matching tapped holes on the device. (Source: Wikipedia)

Now that you have the basic understanding of monitor mount specs, you'll be able to more easily navigate purchasing the correct tv for your booth display or the correct monitor mount for your existing monitor.
